Simon Evans
10 October 1999
‘I come from Peckham in London,’ said Simon Evans to the healthy crowd at the Comedy Cavern last night, ‘and most of you will only know Peckham from Only Fools and Horses.’ He put his hands in his pockets and surveyed the audience with his elegant pokerface. ‘Well, television does have a tendency to glamorize.
’Simon Evans is a remarkably dry comedian with a tremendously telling observational eye and a sense of timing as good as anyone on the circuit. ‘One or two of you may be struggling to place my accent,’ he said at the start of his 40 minute set. ‘It’s called educated.’ Simon will be back in Bath next month at the Fez and any fan of good stand up comedy who missed last night’s performance should certainly attend.
Excellent support was provided by Jon Torrens (‘I got a new computer games recently which was made by Buddhists... lots of extra lives but you can’t kill anything.’) and a promising young comedian from London called Shaun Pye.
