Danny Brown

With all the comedy that’s been on offer in the Bath Fringe Festival these past weeks, there was possibly a slight case of laughter-fatigue at the Comedy Cavern last night. After a sell-out crowd to see Ben Norris last week, the audience was a bit thin on the ground for northern comedian Danny Brown, but those who did attend witnessed an outrageous act with no shortage of laughs.
In a packed programme, the evening kicked off with compere Geoff Whiting, new act spots for Dave Parton and Barry Castagnola and a very funny performance by Tony Law, a fine Canadian comedian. Law has been a resident of the UK for over eight years now, and is well worth getting to see.
Danny Brown is a big man with a big voice and a repertoire of jokes and observations that do not lend themselves to being quoted in a family newspaper. He continually pushed the subject matter as far as he could go… and then went just that little bit further.
‘Ooh, if my mother could hear this, she’d be livid,’ he said after one particularly off-colour crack. ‘She hates people stealing her jokes.’
